| Some Towns and Villages in Yorkshire |

| Yorkshire, in the north of England, is the largest of the British counties. Because of its size, over time the county came to be divided into three regions, called "ridings", the North, West and East. During the latter half of the twentieth century, the county was reorganised, the Ridings disappeared and then were reborn but with slices of other areas included. Most of the postcards on these pages show places in Yorkshire and make no distinction as to the particular region of the county. We currently have separate pages for York, Leeds and Hull - follow the link to see the postcards - and we hope to develop more individual pages as postcards are received. |
