| The Swiss Confederation is situated in Western Europe, bordering France, Germany, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein. It is not in the EEC, although of course because of its geographical position, it maintains close ties. The country has no sea-coast (the lack of which occasionally gives rise to jokes about the Swiss Navy !). It is dominated by the Alps, although the majority of the population inhabit the Central Plateau around Zurich and Geneva. The country's capital city is Bern. Switzerland is divided into 26 cantons, and our postcards may be found under the appropriate headings. We have a large number to process and exhibit - this will take time so please bear with us. More detailed maps will appear under the canton name. |
