Skegness is a seaside town and resort on England's North Sea coast with a population in 2001 of about
19,000. A 1908 poster for
Great Northern Railways, which featured a Jolly Fisherman and the slogan
"Skegness is so bracing", helped attract visitors to the resort. Today Skegness still attracts large numbers of
visitors despite cheap foreign holiday packages.
Butlins opened their first holiday camp here in 1936.
