Penang is a state in Malaysia on the northwest coast of the Malay Peninsula, by the Straits of Malacca. The state is divided into two sections, Penang Island, an island in the Straits of Malacca, and Seberang Perai (Province Wellesley) which is a small area on the peninsula, across a narrow strip of water. Penang Island is connected to the mainland by the 13.5-kilometre Penang Bridge, one of the longest bridges in Asia. The majority of our postcards merely refer to "Penang", so we have been unable to pinpoint their locations with any accuracy. If you can help we would be grateful.

Tanjung Tokong which is on Penang Island.

Not a very helpful description !

Penang, Clock Tower.

As we said above, this is an example of how older postcards simply refer to "Penang". Is Beach Street in George Town ?

A nice view, but where is it ?

A Penang Market.

The Supreme Court, presumably in George Town.

Another view of the Hills Railway.

Victoria Pier.

Ayer Itam Temple.

Beach Street.

The Hills Railway once again !

Campbell Street.

Pagoda, Ayer-Itam Temple.
