| Neuchatel is the capital of the Swiss canton of Neuchatel, and lies on the north-west shore of Lake Neuchatel, about 20km from the border with France. The city is famous as being the centre of the Swiss watch-making industry and in recent years has attracted many "high-tech" companies. Its population (2008) is about 33,000. |
