Gloucestershire
Moreton, which is about 17 miles from Stratford, lies at the head of the Evenlode Valley,
between the Cotswolds and the Oxfordshire hills, and immediately south of the watershed
between the Severn and the Thames. It has always been my favourite Cotswold town - I
used to deliver "Corona" round the town in the late 1950s and have lots of happy memories.
I've been a fairly regular visitor ever since and enjoy its shops and pubs. I've recently
discovered that my great-grandfather Gregory and great-grandmother (nee Rouse) were
both born in Aston Magna in the early 1800s. I've only managed to find one card of Aston
Magna so I'd be grateful if anyone could provide some more !

The Four Shires Stone.
The Cotswold Gateway
Every Tuesday the town holds the largest open-air street market in the Cotswolds, and is
also the venue for a successful one-day agricultural show held on the first Saturday in
September.
The Four Shires Stone, (see our postcard page for a couple of old postcards) about two miles
out of the town, was erected to mark the meeting place of four counties, Gloucestershire,
Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire. However, boundaries have long been
changed and no longer meet there.
