Lincoln, a cathedral city, is the county town of Lincolnshire, a county in the east of England. The city's population in 2001 was just over 85,000. There was an Iron Age settlement there and later a Roman fort, followed by an eleventh century castle. The magnificent cathedral dominates the city today.
Did you know............that the county border between Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire is the shortest in England, being just 19 metres long. Seems rather pointless really !
We'd be delighted if you would sign our Guest Book ! We welcome suggestions, corrections and constructive criticism - or just say "Hello !" and tell us where you come from.
And did you know............that the original cathedral, completed in 1092, was rebuilt after a fire, and then destroyed by an earthquake in 1185 ?
