| Even with the publication - and subsequent banning - of Radclyffe Hall's "The Well of Loneliness" in 1928, lesbianism remained very much a taboo subject in the first half of the 20th Century. This did not stop the production of a large number of postcards portraying women in "romantic" poses. Although primarily of course aimed at the male market, they also appealed to many women. |
