Haverhill, Massachusetts
Haverhill is a town in Essex County in north-eastern Massachusetts, on the Merrimack River. Originally called
Pentucket, it was renamed Haverhill after the town in England where many of its early settlers originated. In
1851, former whaler Rowland Macy set up his first store on Merrimack Street, and held his first parades in the
town.
