| Cleveland is located in northeastern Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie, approximately 60 miles west of the Pennsylvania border. Founded in 1796 near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, it became a manufacturing centre because of its proximity to many canals and railroad lines. With the decline of heavy industry, the city's population also declined from around 900,000 in the 1950s to just over half that number today. Cleveland is home to the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame". |
