Cambridge - The City.  Cambridge lies about 50 miles NNE of London and is of course
most famous for its University. The older colleges form an integral part of the town
centre and whilst there are excellent shopping facilities and everything else you would
expect to find in a city of this size, it is sometimes difficult to separate town and gown as
you wander round. There are very many beautiful old buildings and a town centre
market as well as a variety of pubs and other eating places - all in all an excellent place to
visit, as is demonstrated by the enormous number of tourists.
Cambridge - The University.  Cambridge is one of the oldest universities in the
world. There are currently 31 colleges, three of which are for women and two which only
admit graduates. Of these 31 colleges, 8 have been founded in the last 50 years or so, and
thus, in keeping with our policy of only displaying postcards more than 50 years old or
more, will not appear in these pages.  Of the remaining 23, we will shortly be creating
web pages, although we do not as yet have postcards of all the colleges. So if you can help
with some postcards - good quality scans will be fine - we will be most grateful, as will we
for any relevant information about the colleges, memories, experiences, odd facts etc.
You may contact us via
this link.

Information given here about the colleges has been gleaned from a variety of books and
websites. Each college has its own website and links to these are provided on the relevant
web page.

Please follow the links below to see our postcards and read a little about individual
colleges.
