| The College was founded in 1448 by Margaret of Anjou, wife of Henry VI, and then by Elizabeth Woodville, wife of Edward IV - hence the plural form of Queens'. However, the use of the plural has long been a matter of dispute, and the present formal title is "The Queen's College of St Margaret and St Bernard, commonly called Queens' College, in the University of Cambridge." This as you can see uses both singular and plural forms. |
