King's College Chapel.
King's College was founded in 1441 by King Henry VI, and was formally named "The King's College of Our Lady and St. Nicholas in Cambridge", with only boys from Eton being admitted - it was over 400 years before this was changed. The King made several substantial endowments to the college, but the Wars of the Roses caused funds to dry up and it was not until the 1540s that building was completed. King's College Chapel is now recognised as one of Europe's finest, late medieval buildings.
Among the more well-known alumni of King's are: J G Ballard : Rupert Brooke : Leslie Charteris : Hugh Dalton : Tam Dalyell : E M Forster : J K Galbraith : Orlando Gibbons : Eric Hobsbawm : Simon Hoggart : M R James : John Maynard Keynes : Mervyn King : Fitzroy Maclean : Daniel Massey : Philip Noel-Baker : Wilfred Noyce : Horace Walpole : Stephen Poliakoff : Salman Rushdie : Alan Turing : Robert Walpole.

There's a rather rude Limerick about a young fellow from King's - we've put it on our "Limericks" page just in case you might find it offensive, so don't go there if you don't want to be upset !
