Fitzwilliam College
Cambridge University, Fitzwilliam Hall
The college was  named Fitzwilliam Hall until 1924 - hence this postcard must date from before that year.
Fitzwilliam College was formed out of the Non-Collegiate Students Board (which was founded in 1869)
and became a College of Cambridge University in 1966. It was known as Fitzwilliam Hall until 1924 and
then Fitzwilliam House until the foundatiion of the college. It was originally based at Fitzwilliam House,
opposite the Fitzwilliam Museum, but today the main campus is sited off Storey's Way, to the north-west
of Cambridge,  Female undergraduates were first admitted in 1979.
Notable alumni include Norman Lamont, former
Chancellor of the Exchequer; Derek Pringle,
Engand cricketer; Christopher Martin-Jenkins,
cricket writer and broadcaster; David Starkey, TV
historian;
