Clare College
If you would like to contribute to this page, please contact us.
As you can see, we do not as yet have many postcards of the college,
and would thus be most grateful for more images ! We would also be
happy to insert links to any website which you feel would be relevant,
and to include your experiences of student life.
A very tranquil Clare College Bridge - an unused postcard from the early 1900s.
Clare College was founded in 1326, and is the second oldest of the Cambridge
colleges. It is only a short walk from the centre of the city, yet enjoys a peaceful
setting in its much admired gardens.
Notable alumni include Peter Ackroyd, author;
Sir David Attenborough, naturalist and
broadcaster;Hugh Latimer, Chaplain to Henry
VII; Siegfried Sassoon, poet; Richard Stilgoe,
song writer and entertainer; and of course
many others - if you would like to recommend
an addition to this list, please do so and we
will happily include the name.
A 1931 postcard of the bridge.
An undated view of the College
and Bridge from a watercolour
by Charles Flower
