| Bletchley, Buckinghamshire |

| Bletchley is a town in north Buckinghamshire, England, which was absorbed into the new town of Milton Keynes when it was founded in 1967. The town grew rapidly after the opening of the London and North-West Railway in 1845 and then the Oxford- Cambridge cross-country "Varsity Line" soon after. There was a further population increase in the early 1960s when houses were built to as part of the London Overspill scheme, but it was the development of Milton Keynes which had the most marked effect on the community. Bletchley became the main shopping area for the new city, but with the opening of the Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre in 1979, the town suffered a major decline inn trade. Bletchley Park, headquarters of Britain's World War II Code-Breaking Operations, is situated close to Bletchley Town Centre. |
