Bath, a city in South-west England, lies in the valley of the River Avon among
surrounding hills, and grew around naturally-occurring hot springs where the Romans
built baths and a temple, giving it the name Aquae Sulis. The city became a World
Heritage Site in 1987, and has a variety of theatres, museums, and other cultural and
sporting venues, which have helped to make it a major centre for tourism.
I have been a fairly regular visitor since my National Service days at RAF Pucklechurch.
I spent a couple of weeks at the University whilst studying at the Open University in the
1970s. The city is well worth a visit and has many interesting buildings, including the
Roman Baths and the Pump Rooms where you may indulge yourself and have tea !
